Andy Whatson - Director
Andy joined the Crosslane Group in 2010 to grow the UK student accommodation development pipeline in the north and became a director of Crosslane Student Developments in 2012.
Andy has over 18 years’ experience in PBSA and most recently whilst at Crosslane was responsible for developing the UK assets of the Victus European Student Accommodation Fund.
Prior to joining the Crosslane Group, Andy spent over 10 years at student accommodation specialist The Unite Group plc where he was a main board director, holding the role of regional managing director.
Andy joined Unite in 1997 when it had a total portfolio of 200 Student beds and by the time he left in 2007 Unite had over 30,000 beds.
As regional managing director in the north from 2002, Andy was responsible for the growth of the Unite portfolio in the north from 300 beds to over 20,000.
Jon Stewart - Director
Jon joined the Crosslane Group in 2009 to grow the UK student accommodation development pipeline in the south and became a director of Crosslane Student Developments in 2012.
Jon is a Chartered Surveyor who has been at the forefront of purpose built student accommodation development, investment and management for in excess of 18 years, including experience developing the UK assets of the Victus European Student Accommodation Fund.
Prior to joining the Crosslane Group, Jon spent nearly 11 years at The Unite Group Plc where he held the position of real estate director and was responsible for approximately 40,000 beds during his time at the company.
Before his role as Real Estate Director, Jon was the Regional Development Director at Unite, responsible for the growth of the portfolio throughout the South West and Wales.
Robert Goulsbra - Development Manager
Robert joined the Crosslane Group in March 2014. He has over 11 years' experience in property, encompassing purpose-built student accommodation development, commercial property, planning, development and investment. At Crosslane Robert plays a key role within the Student Development team.
Robert is responsible for developing student accommodation in the north, focussing on identifying, sourcing and securing new development site acquisitions, assessing the viability of new schemes, coordinating the design of schemes, managing them through the planning process to achieve planning consent, appointing contractors and overseeing construction until practical completion and hand over to the Crosslane lettings and operational management business: Prime Student Living.
Robert is an MRICS chartered surveyor and prior to joining Crosslane worked for a regional property development and investment company, and prior to that a well-regarded national property consultancy.
Lisa Timberlake - Development Manager
Lisa joined the Crosslane Group in March 2014 and has over 7 years’ development experience in purpose-built student accommodation in the UK having worked for Opal and Mansion prior to Crosslane and prior to that, gained 10 years’ experience in residential investment & development.
Lisa is responsible for developing student accommodation in the south, focussing onidentifying, sourcing and securing new development site acquisitions, assessing the viability of new schemes, coordinating the design of schemes, managing them through the planning process to achieve planning consent, appointing contractors and overseeing construction until practical completion and hand over to the Crosslane lettings and operational management business: Prime Student Living.
Lisa is an MRICS chartered surveyor and prior to working in the student accommodation sector held roles in agency, residential property management and residential acquisition and development.
Mike Moran – Development Manager
Mike joined the Crosslane Group in September 2015 and has over 8 years' experience in commercial property development.
Mike is responsible for sourcing and securing new development sites, assessing the viability of new schemes and then managing them through the planning process, contractor appointment through to completion.
Mike is MRICS qualified and prior to working in the student accommodation sector held a chartered development surveyor role with over 8 years post qualification experience in client-side development.
Student Property Management Team
Tommy Styles - Operations Director at Prime Student Living
A former Regional Operations Director for Unite PLC, Tommy was directly responsible for Unite’s North West Region with 8000 beds and 18 properties. A portfolio valued at £650m with a turnover of £28m. Tommy worked for Unite for 11 years from 2000 to 2011 in various operational roles. In his role at Unite Tommy was responsible for the direction and development of a team totalling 58 people, including Operations Managers and Customer Service Managers.
Pippa Birnie - Regional Operations Manager Scotland
Pippa Has 8 years experience in the Student accommodation sector having worked for UNITE for 6 years during this time she worked as property manager onsite and laterally in her role was Operations Manager in Aberdeen with overall responsibility for 1821 beds across 5 properties with a turnover in excess of 8M.
Pippa has built strong relationships with all key university contacts within her region, she has recruited and developed her property managers to a high standard and thrives on the challenge of managing budget & Sales performance to achieve success.
Lindsey Harding - Regional Operations Manager South
Lindsey has 9 years management experience within Unite covering numerous properties within both Liverpool and Bristol. Always working closely with Universities to forge strong relationships. In Bristol, he developed a struggling University relationship across 2 sites and over 3 years turned this into a thriving partnership where the University took 9 properties under a mixture of Lease and Nomination agreements.
At Prime, Lindsey has mobilised Harbour Court and delivered an 80% customer satisfaction score and implemented all aspects of the Operational workings for the property and working closely with contractors and developers to ensure the site was ready for check in.
